From toilet beginnings TO GLOBAL IMPACT
FLUSH started in 2018, working on impact projects in water and sanitation.
In a sector often overlooked and sometimes avoided, we saw firsthand how critical systems can be misunderstood, undervalued, or ignored when they aren’t communicated clearly.
Water and sanitation sit at the intersection of health, infrastructure, environment, and dignity. It is technical, complex, and deeply human. And it revealed something fundamental: Important work isn’t always clear, nor does it speak for itself.
What we’ve learneD
If we wanted to get anything done in the stigmatized sanitation sector, we had to communicate effectively, clearly, and compassionately. That gave us a foundation on which we continue to build by helping our clients talk meaningfully to the people they work with about tough topics.
Working in water and sanitation also taught us how to:
-
navigate complex, multi-layered systems
-
translate technical work into human terms
-
connect data to lived experience
-
All of this has shaped how we work today - no matter the sector.
We focus on clarity, practicality, and real-world impact–showcasing the humanity behind the data.
Where we are now
Today, we work across a broader set of challenges that interlink–from water and climate to energy, gender, community development, and beyond.
While the sectors have expanded, the core of our work remains the same: Translating complex systems into stories people can understand and act on.
From toilet beginnings to global challenges, our work is grounded in the systems that
shape everyday life.
WHY FLUSH?
With roots in water and sanitation, we are comfortable working on topics obscured by complexity, stigma, and technical detail.
We use storytelling to cut through that. We craft narratives that are:
-
clear and accessible
-
grounded in evidence
-
designed for real-world use
-
easy for teammates to replicate

Because when people understand the systems that shape their lives, they can act on them.
