Celebrate World Toilet Day 2026 (and beyond)!
World Toilet Day falls on Thursday, November 19, and we hope you will celebrate with us or join one of the events happening worldwide.

This year, UN-Water has chosen the theme Sanitation and Gender Equality, with the campaign slogan Safe toilets. Equal futures.
The campaign looks at how a safe, private toilet, along with soap, water, and a place to manage a period, shapes whether women and girls can go to school, hold down a job, and move freely through their day. Around 3.4 billion people still live without safe sanitation, and women and girls carry a heavy share of the risks that come with it. When toilets work for women and girls, they work better for everyone.
What's on for World Toilet Day 2026?
We have seen a decline in the number of WTD events happening over the past few years, but there are still some to check out. Check out the list below and see how you can join in!
Before Nov 19th:
IN-PERSON (USA): The Narragansett Bay Commission is inviting artists, students, and the public to decorate toilet seats with clean water messages for a World Toilet Day exhibition at a Rhode Island gallery in November.
IN-PERSON (IRELAND): Primary school classes with pupils aged 8 to 10 can build their own model fatberg for the Think Before You Flush competition to mark the campaign’s 10th anniversary. Entries are due before Halloween, and the winning school gets a celebration visit on World Toilet Day!
IN-PERSON OR REMOTE (FRANCE): Run or walk for the throne at Urgent Run Paris in the Bois de Boulogne on Nov 14, with 5, 10, and 20 km routes (the event page is in French). Not in Paris? You can still take part from anywhere between Nov 14 and 16.
IN-PERSON (THAILAND): The World Toilet Summit 2026 runs from Nov 17 - 19 at the Asian Institute of Technology, closing on World Toilet Day.
IN-PERSON (USA): Visit the Painted Toilets for World Toilet Day 2026 in Ohio, where local artists turn toilets into works of art.
On Nov 19th:
IN-PERSON (ENGLAND): Discover how Winchester has dealt with its waste, from medieval monks to Victorian sewers, on the 90-minute Privies, Pots and Pits walking tour. Part of each ticket's revenue goes to the charity WaterHarvest.
IN-PERSON (SCOTLAND): Drop in to Perth Civic Hall between 10am and 4pm GMT for a free Toilets Around Perth event focused on accessible toilets for disabled people and their carers.
IN-PERSON (SWEDEN): Join a seminar and “water pub” at the Stockholm Environment Institute on the toilet as a resource, locally and globally, looking at urine-diverting toilets and nutrient recovery in Sweden and Madagascar (the event page is in Swedish).
After Nov 19th:
We didn't find anything for this year :-(
Personal (Online) Activities
Can’t make it to an in-person event? Here are a few ways to celebrate and raise awareness:
Run your own activity with UN-Water’s 2026 campaign kit. It includes a factsheet, posters, social media graphics, and an activation kit full of creative activities for schools, organizations, and companies.
Explore Global Waters 2.0, the WASH knowledge archive FLUSH built after the original USAID site closed in 2025, with WASH professionals, volunteers, and interns. It holds decades of WASH research and project documents, with AI-powered search to help you find what you need.
Start a conversation with one of this year’s campaign facts. Did you know fewer than 1 in 3 schools worldwide have menstrual waste bins in girls’ toilets?
Book a toilet class run by FLUSH for your team or classroom. We have online options for both adults and kids.
Brush up on your WASH storytelling with FLUSH’s free guides, covering everything from trust-building to social media.
Pick up a toilet book from the Loo Book Club archive, where you’ll find our reviews of sanitation reads old and new.
Catch up on the blog for more toilet thoughts throughout the year.
Take a brief toilet tour with FLUSH’s toilet tourism videos on YouTube, then catch up on our toilet tourism blog posts for more unusual toilets from around the world.
Share your work with the Climate Resilient Inclusive WASH Hub, which is looking for blog contributions.
Need a moment to unwind? Last year we made a World Toilet Day coloring page, and you can still download it for free. Grab your colored pencils, relax, and color in some toilet joy! Send us a photo of your creation, and we will share it on our social media.

Know of an event we’ve missed?
We’ll keep adding to this list as more World Toilet Day events are announced. If you’re hosting something or have a toilet resource worth sharing, email us, and we’ll add it to this post!
